All Chicago servers are colocated with steadfast networks.
Steadfast Networks operates out of its own state of the art data center located in downtown Chicago, Illinois located in the Lakeside Technology Center, Suite 240, the same building in which Equinix is located. The data center offers complete redundancy in power, HVAC, network connectivity, and security. The datacenter facility sits atop multiple power grids driven by ComEd, with full UPS battery backup power and a diesel generators onsite. Our network is supplied by several separate networks including, Level(3), Savvis and AT&T. Dozens more third party backbone providers are available in the building via cross connect, such as MCI, Global Crossing, Abovenet, Qwest, XO Communication, Sprint, Williams, and Cogent. The fiber provided to the data center is also provided over redundant paths, with two 10 Gigabit Ethernet lines from our cabinet in Equinix, on the 5th floor, and several pairs of fiber to providers in the Meet-Me Room on the 2nd floor. The data center was previously operated by 360 Networks with everything built to telecommunications grade specifications and it has maintained full operation, without any failures, since it was constructed.

All Dc servers are colocated with superb internet in DCA2 advanced Data & Network Operations Centre (NOC) in Tyson's Corner, McLean, Virginia is an essential part of our core Network. The DCA2 NOC is staffed by highly experienced Systems & Network Administrators 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and features multiple heavy-duty UPS (uninterrupted power) systems, multiple diesel generators, and AC systems. DCA2 offers both premium and value transit services.
Our network does not use any 10Mb/s switches, or any hubs - at all. It is completely Fast Ethernet (100 Mb/s, for access) and Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Mb/s, for core and distribution) based. Both internal and external network provides multiple, redundant, paths. Each and every piece of the network is fully redundant: there is no single point of failure. The network also includes a number of multi-terbyte tape and RAID-based backup systems.
Looking Glass Networks, now known as Level 3, one of the most financially healthy fibre carriers, provides our private fibre-optics through multiple OC-192 SONET rings throughout northern Virginia and DC.
The OC-192 SONET rings consist of two redundant OC-192s traversing two separate paths and having two diverse routes to our facilities, thus providing the ultimate in reliability and performance. Even if both of the lines are cut at any point, the OC-192 ring is still operational, with less than 50 ms (0.05 second) self-healing restoration time.
The multiple private SONET rings provide us the ultimate in reliability: no downtime even in the case of a major fibre cut in the area (due to separate paths and multiple fibres).
A number of other fibre carriers are on site, too: AboveNet (MFN), Verizon, and MCI/Verizon Business just to name a few.
Furthermore, we do not only connect within Virginia. The DCA2 site has lines run within northern Virginia, DC and New York. The directly-connected IAD1, NYC1 & NYC2 sites further augment that by additional Virginia, DC, New York, Illinois, California and Washington state based connectivity. Due to this fully redundant physical connectivity -- lines traversing from us in all directions -- ensures that we will remain up and running even in case of a major disaster in the area.

All Dallas servers are colocated at the planet. The Planet provides On Demand IT Infrastructure backed by complete redundancy in power, HVAC, fire suppression, network connectivity, and security. So if any of our data centers experiences a disruption for any reason, your eggs (or servers) are never in one basket.
Currently managing 147,000 square feet of data center space in six facilities, we have an additional 30,000 square feet of data center space under construction. Each facility is wholly owned, managed and operated by The Planet and is equipped to handle any challenge based on these unique advantages:
Power systems at The Planet’s data centers are designed to run uninterrupted - even in the unlikely event of a total power outage. We have, for example, a state-of-the-art N+1 power generator architecture. In the event of any generator failure, back up power systems provide ample capacity to keep servers running.
In an extended power outage, on-site diesel generators at our data centers can run indefinitely. Power generators receive regular preventative maintenance to ensure the will continue to function in any emergency.
Every server is fed with uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that assures service in the event of a power failure. Our UPS power is N+1 redundant with instant failover coverage should the primary UPS fail.
Our data center HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) systems are N+1 redundant to ensure that in the unlikely event of an entire HVAC system failure, there is a duplicate system ready to assume the load.
The Planet data centers feature advanced fire suppression systems to keep any fires localized and prevent them from spreading..
Preventative maintenance at our data centers is performed regularly by our own highly trained personnel to meet or exceed manufacturers recommended practices. These include quarterly generator maintenance, quarterly UPS maintenance and battery testing, and monthly HVAC maintenance.
